One thing I always think about when I watch this film is Rose's relationship with her parents. She obviously loves them but we never see her visit them and she doesn't stop at the house when she sees them outside.
What do you think the story is there?
During the commentary from the director on DVD, he states that she was abandoned by many people growing up including her parents. I believe her parents did not give her the attention she needed to have growing up.
