I do know The Rose came out in 1979 when THE DIVINE MS.MIDLER was at her lowest weight probably for her exceptional potrayal of an addict, but, NO, I do NOT think she looks like a guy, anyguy, especially Dee Snider from twisted sister. He is really unattractive in costume while Bette is then and now gorgeous(imo) truely.

shareI thought the same thing, that she looked like Dee Snider, which is the only guy you could be referring to since he is the frontman of Twisted Sister. But it's just an unfortunate, fleeting comparison because Bette really looks great in the film. It's her hair that does it.

Bette might be gorgeous, but she isn't as beautiful as Barbra Streisand. That woman is like butter. I keep hoping she will do a nude scene (finally) in her next film. I think the world has waited long enough...

I thought that they could pass for siblings. I don't think that Bette Midler looks like a man or that Dee Snider looks like a woman, but they bear enough similarities with their hair and facial features to pass as relatives. Also, Bette has a great pair of boobs so there's something that she definitely has over the great Mr. Snider.

I just got done seeing the film for the first time and I kept thinking: "She looks like Dee Snider from Twisted Sister." No offense to Bette, though; she looks really good in this movie, not that I was ever attracted to her. It's just that there's a strong resemblance to Dee of Twisted Sister.
