Pretty sure the Buena Vista DVD isn’t anamorphic

I have a DVD player from 1999, and if a DVD is anamorphic, one sees the machine put the bars on the screen before starting the chapter with the anamorphic information, or one sees the machine take the bars off the screen when pushing the menu button if the DVD’s menu is non-anamorphic. I’m pretty sure that anamorphic and non-anamorphic information can’t be on the same chapter—the newly released region-1 DVD from Buena Vista starts with full-screen images of the old video logos, including New Horizons, before the film starts. Can anyone confirm if the disc is truly anamorphic? Peace.

well i just want to know if the sound is crappy on everyone else's dvd or if its just mine. i have a good setup so maybe i just notice it a little more but it's really distorted/static-y in alot of places

I have no sound problems with my copy. Maybe the volume on your receiver is set too high?

Edit: I know what you’re talking about, but the film was so low-budget that they didn’t really concentrate on the sound work too much. Peace.

The original movie is 1:85. So it's NOT anamophic.

A DVD can be anamorphic with any film that has a ratio of 1.77:1 or wider. Anamorphic means the player inserts 1.77:1 bars between which more information can be squeezed. Peace.

The DVD IS non-anamorphic, sadly. It seems that Disney/Buena Vista just used a transfer from one of the old DVDs...
