Yeah - the powderman had never *actually* blown up a building, and severely overestimated the size of the charge needed.
Corman paid extra to get to *actually* blow up the school - which was scheduled for demolition. Because the school *had* to be down by a certain date, the shoting schedule had no room for delays, so, when Arkush was down with flu for three days, his sidekick Joe Dante stepped in and kept the shoot going.
Watch Marky - he glances over his shoulder, then turns back, pulls his head down and keeps right on drumming.
