24 August 1979? Didn't I see this in 1978
Is the release date correct? I could swear I saw this in 1978.

shareI know I saw it in the theater as a double feature with Grease, and that came out in 1978. I always thought it was 1978 too, but all signs seem to point to 1979.
RIP Dee Dee, Joey, and Johnny-Ramones forever!
Are you and the original poster sure you just weren't so stoned throughout 1978-79 that you don't remember?
I'm kidding! Kidding! ;D

I sure hope not! In 1978, I was only 10 years old :-D

Grease was probably in limited release in some theaters. Another cool thing about movies in the 70's was that many would come back in certain theaters a year or two later :)
shareWhen the film starts you'll see the copyright date at the bottom of the screen. It clearly shows 1979.
shareI saw Rock n' Roll High School in 1979---1978's Grease was re-released in 1979 as well---so your memory is correct but the year is wrong!
shareThere is a banner that says "class of '80" in the beginning of the film. For some reason I always thought of 1979. But there are also fake notes that Kate gives to the principal with the date on them, but I gotta go back and look at that. Although I was pretty sure they were not 1978. But hey, they could've post dated stuff. Why, I wouldn't know.
