This movie got me listening to the Ramones.

Damn i was to stuck with other stuff in the late 70s and 80s and i missed all thier stuff. Watched the movie 3 times already with my daughter and we love it. This movie ranks up there as one of my favorite all time musicals with THe Wall, Grease and Xanadu from now on..

That's 2 bad 3 out of the 4 band members are deceased. RIP.

Yeah me too. I'll never forget watching it the first time when they appear singing 'I just wanna have something to do.' That was in the early 90s and I was lucky enough to see the Ramones in 1996. Awesome show.

The Wall's one of my all time favorites too!

Me too. I always knew they existed, but I never actually listened to their music. Then I decided to watch this cause I like teen movies that take place in the late 70's-early 80's. Then they appeared singing "Wanna Have Something to Do", & I was like this song is awesome, so I went to the library a few days later & took out all their CDs that they have there. I've been hooked ever since. It makes me wish I could have been young during the 1975-1985 era instead of 2000-2010 era (I'm 21 now) so I could have been around when they were and gone to their shows.

I remember watching this movie for the first time when we finally got cable in early 1983. I had just discovered the Ramones because their video for Time Has Come Today was on MTV constantly at the time, and the Pyscho Therapy video was on a Night Flight episode about videos that had been banned for being too violent. Both songs were from their latest album which had just come out, so I bought it and I loved it.

Anyway, I was watching this movie with my older sister, and at some point she made a comment about the Ramones being a punk band. "What are you talking about? These guys aren't punk, you idiot." See, I was about 14 years old, and before discovering the Ramones, I had discovered hardcore punk the previous year... which, back then, nobody really referred to as "hardcore punk". It was just "punk". So to me, "punk" meant super fast, super angry, shaved heads, mohawks, combat boots, slam pits, etc. Totally different from the Ramones style. I literally had no clue they were considered punk, I just thought of them as a really weird, really loud rock band. I soon learned that they basically started the whole punk thing, totally blew my mind. Anyway they've been one of my favorite bands ever since.
