Cheap Trick?
Would this movie have been better with Cheap Trick?
Yeah, I know, probably not.
Nah mate, nah.
shareNEVER
shareI haven't seen the movie, yet, but I think Cheap Trick could have been interesting. I like 'em about the same as Ramones.
It's weird, you know. Looking at the remake there's not really a band that would fit the movie (Weezer maybe), but back in 79 a lot of bands would have been a good match for such a vehicle - Cheap Trick, Kiss, Van Halen, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Devo, etc.
"We learned more from a three minute record than we ever learned in school"
i think the movie woulda been real succesfull with Van Halen, but im just fine with the ramones cause i like em better than any 70s band and yeah it was a flop but i wouldnt care much about the movie if some 70s band had been there, the ramones are freakin timeless
shareVan Halen would've been the best choice in my mind. Think about it in 1979 they were just starting to get popular and they released two of their best albums (VH, VHII). But they weren't big enough that they wouldn't be an expensive band to sign, (Not until 1983 when they were paid 1 Million to preform at The Us Festival to headline, This was a World Record at the time.). Plus David Lee Roth would probably most likely be a good actor (He could probably Improv a few lines too.).
I think the top 3 band sthey should look at Are Velvet Revolver (Very Ramonesy Aerosmith sound.) Green Day (Modern Day Ramones), and Sum 41 (They are pretty talented, I think they deserve a shot.)
I would Suggest The Defectors: http://www.thedefectors.com/

That would have been interesting. I like both Cheap Trick and The Ramones.
shareRamones absolutely perfect for this film. I was a high school senior in 1979, and Ramones were blowing UP!! Really never heard of Cheap Trick, and its an insult to the Ramones to be compared to them. This film is so nostalgic, I just love it. Ramones=one of the greatest Punk bands in history due to their simple, raw nature. They represented a new generation of youth and a definate break from the 70s generation-totally fresh, 3-chord, ear-drum breaking fun!
shareI think The Tubes would have been kool.
