Cover?!

The cover on this movie is wayyyyyyy off! There is no dragon, no dwarves, whatever you see on the cover is totally wrong! Who drew that anyway!

reply

Some total idiot obviously! I know it's terrible, I'm glad my old VHS copy has a different less er... saccharin and incorrect cover. If you think that's bad, try the current cover of The Last Unicorn (retch!) Or the cover they were using about ten years back for The Dark Crystal. It was PINK! Honestly I think some artists don't even bother to WATCH the movies they're designing covers for.

It was a marketing gimmick for those who related to the Hobbit

reply

It looks like a cover that would be on the Wizard of Oz.

reply

Agreed the cover is crap. But what? No dragon, no Dwarves? Dude that was The Hobbit.

You can't expect much from an early 80's cartoon. I was more offended by the movie in general at how they showed the orcs. The looked like the germs those health books you read in 2nd grade had in them. Let's not forget how the Nazgul looked.

reply

Well, if the cover looks like crap, than it's a more than adequate warning for the contents...

It belongs on the cover of "My Little Pony."

the city on the right side of the cover seems to be Rohan, which is barely in the movie.

Indeed, the cover stinks. First of all, there are 2 Sam's on the smilling barbie horse, riding away from a pair of nearly identical citys, holding a sword witch resembles Glamdring, and the ring. Plus, the dwarves and smaug were stupid looking as well.
