Fellowship Of The RIng?

I knew there was a Ralph Bakshi lord of the rings 1&2, but then there was the third movie made by Rankin & Bass. In the song: Leave Tomorrow Till It Comes, there are a few scenes from a movie which i have not seen. And at the beginning, you see gandalf explain the ring to Frodo, then him and Sam leave. Was there a first and second one by Rankin & Bass?

While Ralph Bakshi intended to make a second movie to complete his adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, it never came to fruition. Rankin/Bass produced The Hobbit as a TV movie in 1977, Bakshi directed The Lord of the Rings which ended about half-way through The Two Towers and Rankin/Bass made The Return of the King (1980) for television. The scene that you describe sounds like it might be a flashback to the events of The Fellowship of the Ring contained within The Return of the King.
