Did anyone make this mistake?
When I first was introduced to the world of Middle-Earth, it was through the Rankin-Bass cartoon of The Hobbit, then I watched their version of ROTK. When I saw it, I thought it was just some stand-alone sequel to the Hobbit cartoon, not knowing it was actually based on the last of three books that I wasn't familiar with. So when I was then introduced to Bakshi's rendition of the first two parts of LOTR, I thought at first that it was a second sequel to The Hobbit cartoon since ROTK looked clearly like a sequel to The Hobbit with the same animation, yet the chronology, continuity, and different animation made no sense in Bakshi's version, which made me realize that it actually preceded ROTK and that they were all apart of a book trilogy. Rankin-Bass really put me on a trail of deceit at first for a 10-year old kid so good thing Peter Jackson made better sense with his movie trilogy. Did anyone else fall into that trap at a younger age?
