think?

ME:
Local drive in theater, original release (it was "scary summer" 1979 -- Alien, Dawn of the Dead, Night Wing, Prophecy and a few others) . LOVED IT!!!!!!!! I was so excited when it came to HBO in 1980!! Then countless VHS rentals.......from Mom & Pop video stores...........

"In every dimension , there's another YOU!"

Last week actually. Was stoned out of my gord. Had to keep backing it up because I couldn't pay attention haha. But I loved it. Awesome soundtrack, atmosphere, acting was pretty good. After the 3 guys stow the midget in the ice cream truck and Reggie says "This guy's not gonna leak in my ice cream is he?" I absolutely lost it. The jam session was awesome too. Very enjoyable flick.

Saw it on its initial UK cinema release in '79. I was 13. Love it.

Saw it in 1999 on video at home. The VHS copy was so deteriorated that I could barely tell what was going on during the night scenes. Now I have the remastered DVD version amongst my collection.

Saw it on a streaming service around 2018 or 2019 on recommendation from a fellow horror movie lover. I thought it was great!

1981 at my best friend's house. His was the only family I knew who had a VCR in those days, in fact they had TWO, and they used them to dub movies and had a huge library of everything you could ever want to see. There were so many movies I'd heard about and was dying to see, but was too young to see them in theaters, which I finally got to see over at his house. (I was 12 in '81)

I don't remember anything specific really, just that it was so cool to finally see the movie with "the flying chrome ball that drills into peoples' brains" and "this big guy gets his fingers chopped off and his blood is yellow and the kid keeps one of the fingers and it turns into this monster fly..." etc. etc. etc.

I didn't actually see the movie until I was about 17 and my friends and I rented it on VHS, but when Phantasm first came out, I was in 8th grade and I was obsessed with the TV trailer for it. I even utilized the silver spheres and the evil dwarves in a Dungeons & Dragons adventure I ran for my 8th grade buddies. I desperately tried to find a way to see the actual movie, but in Canada at that time, you could not see R rated movies even with an adult.
