Just wondering if anyone knows where to find the dialog for the movie. I am interested in the scene in the locker room where Matoozak goes berserk with that line about sport and business and I think uses the word "chickens**t". I just remember it being pretty classic.
shareI've already posted a couple of times tonight about this speech and the intensity of Matuszak's passion for the game...especially considering that in real life he essentially committed supukku in order to play by taking massive amounts of brain cancer causing steroids.
I don't know how much of this can get past the IMDB censors but here goes:
Coach Johnson (Charles Durning): You should have studied Weeks' tendencies. We would have won if you'd studied those tendencies...
O.W. Shadduck (John Matuszak): Aww Shift! You never give us anything to bring to the game except your farking facts and tendencies! To you it's just a business but to us it's still got to be a sport!
Johnson: You're supposed to be a Professional! You got to go out there and play FOOTBALL!
O.W.: Shift! We work harder than anybody to win, but when we're dead tired in the fourth quarter, winning's got to be more than just money!
Johnson: YOU WERE HIRED TO DO A JOB!
O.W.: JOB! JOB! I don't want no farking JOB! I wanna play football you askhole. I want some FEELING! I want some farking TEAM SPIRIT!!!
Johnson: This ain't no high school - you don't need to love each other to play...
O.W.: THATS JUST WHAT I MEAN YOU BASTIDGE! Every time I call it a game, you call it a BUSINESS, and every time I call it a business, you call it a GAME! You and B.A. and all the rest of you coaches are CHICKENSHIFT CORKSACKERS - no feeling for the game at all, man! You'll win, but it will just be numbers on a scoreboard! NUMBERS! That's all you care about. FARK MAN! That's not enough for me!
Johnson: I don't have to listen to a speech from you!
O.W.: OH YES YOU FARKING DO! (ripping Johnson's jacket off and throwing it at him as he bolts from locker room...) YOU GOTTA LISTEN TO ME FOR ONCE! ALL YOU COACHES ARE CHICKENSHIFT CORKSACKERS. You're all chickenshift corksackers!

shareWith the release of the Mitchell report I was reminded that it was Lyle Alzado and not Matuszak who died from a brain tumor...sorry for the bad info. Matuzak suffered a heart attack. For what it's worth, Matuszak's Wikipedia entry notes that steroids were suspected to be a contributor to his premature passing...
