That Explains Things

If the book that the movie is taken from was written by some sports writer who saw much of the behind scenes behavior in the game then that says a lot about all these players wanting compensation for head injuries. I think Nick said it all when he pointed out that management was the team and the players are just equipment. I don't know about now, but if true back then they seemed to care less what physical damage might happen to players they patch up to continue playing when they needed to be healing

One more point about what seems to be a goof on the last scene. When Nolte and Davis were talking Davis didn't have a football right? Suddenly he has a football to throw that just materialized out of the blue right? Or did I just miss it? I accidentally deleted it before going back to look

Well, the novel was written by a former Dallas Cowboys player, so, yeah, he would have had inside information.

I recall reading, to my surprise, Tom Landry saying the events depicted occurred in the NFL, though not all compressed in a short time span on a single team as portrayed in the film.

Yes, he has the football in his hands the moment you see him when Phil leaves the building. Just watched it. Again!
