The Annie Cook scene was amazing

Geneviève Bujold had the short on screen role as Annie Cook, and I was moved. That whole scene with her and Holmes was very powerful.

Just saw it and yes, it was amazing.

Agree with you both, just saw this brilliant film again and this sequence was just as powerful as I remembered it. Incredibly good acting from both Plummer and Bujold. This is a fantastic film.

i concur. the look in Christopher's tear filled eyes. touching to say the least.

I thought her scene slowed the film down too much. Overracted a bit, imo.

I agree. And it was quite obvious that the make-up staff applied something to Plummer's eyes to create fake tears (or make him cry). Plummer was not inherently moved by Bujold's performance, at least not enough to cry naturally. While, like you, stones78, I did think the scene slowed the film, I thought the juxtaposition of having all of those insane female inmates in the same cell overhearing Bujold's private recollections was pretty interesting.
