I seen Meatballa again recently and remembered most of the scenes. However, one particular scene seems to have edited for time.
The part where Rudy goes to the diner and Tripper convinces him to stay. The version I recently seen Tripper buys fries and eats one and they leave. However, the way I remember the scene is Tripper pushes the fries in front of Rudy to share.
You could have been watching a version that was cut for TV.
Movies will need to be cut to be shown on TV and part of that process is getting it to fit into the times slot. Say you have a film that is an hour and 10 minutes but you have a 2 hour segment to show it in.
You have to remove a lot to also cover for commercials
You may even remove an entire sublot to get you down to the time that is needed
Unfortunately you may have cut it down too much
So you go to the film makers and say "We need to expand this film by about 2 minutes, do you have anything?"
They would have numerous scenes that were cut store and they would work with you to either extend or cut a scene to make it fit into the time that is needed.
