Totally agreed. It actually makes the movie depressing to me. The gross cast, the hideous clothes, the awful music. It makes me thank God my parents didn't send me away to suicide camp.

You may find it odd, but Meatballs helped me develop a philosophy I have held for almost 40 years. During the worst time of my life, Tripper's ranting of "It Just Doesn't Matter" caused me to put into perspective what was really important in my life.

Bill Murray is a good looking man. Looked good back then too.

The comment that this movie has an ugly cast is ridiculous. It was the 7os. Nobody looked that good. Sheesh.

I love that about older movies. They felt more realistic because face it, the majority of the population is not that attractive.

Imagine if they'd make Ghostbusters now with a male cast? They'd all look like Chris Pine and be jacked up like The Rock or some shit.

I prefer balding Murray, average looking Aykroyd and Hudson and big nose Ramis.

It's interesting how there was more of a shift towards more "average" but still unique looking in the 70s/80s Hollywood, vs the Chris Pine types you mention now. Also vs earlier Hollywood, which was quite pretty too. Notice how rare it is for an actor to be balding today for instance, vs the 70s/80s where there were lots of bad hairlines. Today an actor will typically only be balding if he's a musclehead or playing a pedo/evil type character. (I don't mean slightly balding at the hairline like early Bruce Willis or Heath Ledger, which is still somewhat allowed.)

I think people are aging a bit better today. That may spur some of it. The other problem may be related to shorter attention spans so it means more eye candy (good looking people, CGI) instead of better written movies.
