Manhattan is a Shithole

I lived there for 3 years, 1997~2000, in the village.
When I was there I thougt it was cool, such an important and interesting city, the capital of the world. i was fine with the crowds and tall buildings and tiny living space. The smell and the traffic and the dirt.

But this is not a normal space for humans. If you look at it from space, it looks like an out of control growth on the planet, caused by little foolish creatures that keep ammassing on that spot.
It is unhealthy, unnatural, unnecessary.
My acceptance back then of such an absurd concentration of people and cement was based on the saying:
eat shit. Millions of flies cannot all be mistaken.
Now I know better.

reply

I've only been there once, and I hated it, too.

But then I hate bananas, too, and bananas are wonderfully good for people and most humans love them! Because my tastes don't matter to the millions or billions who love New York or bananas.

reply

Couldn't hack it, eh? New York is not for everyone. Forget about it.

reply

Could hack it just fine. Like I explained, I had no problems at all and quite liked it.

NOW it is evident how Manhattan is an unhealthy infestation of people and cement.
It's a cancer growing out of control on what once a green little island.
It is an aberration, should be seen as such.

reply

Yeah, well that much was clear since about 1999.

reply

No shit, Sherlock. Did I say that it's a new thing?
But it's been clear since 1930 at least, yet it's still going on and not many point it out.

Indeed, many point out how great it is, like Allen.
People are so out of touch with balance and nature in the world it got out of control.

reply

I'm sure all New Yorkers are glad you're gone.

reply

I'm sure nobody gives a fuck about your opinion.

reply

@ Heisenberg - LOL! You think anyone gives a fuck about yours?

reply

You do.

I'm working my way through Gore Vidal's "1876" and it's pretty remarkable in that he had to research Manhattan circa 1837 and 1876 and describe the changes in between.

reply

I went once. I only live about and hour or so away. As we walked around, the tourists were taking pictures of me as though I was a freak or something LOL. At the time I had platinum blonde hair and had a big baggy purple sweatshirt on. Big whoop LOL. I was like WTF??

reply

Manhattan - the movie, stupid. No one wants to hear your stupid whining, especially here.

It's a slippery slope.
