This was the last Woody Allen movie I liked
This was the last Woody Allen movie I liked though I didn't like it as much as most of his previous movies. I haven't liked another one since, but I stopped watching them after Deconstructing Harry.

shareSo you're more of a fan of his early, funny ones?
I'm always saying this on this site, but I think Allen has made six great movies of which this, chronologically, is the second.

I didn't even like this one. Annie Hall was his last great movie. Everything after has been garbage.
i don't understand how you could possibly describe Hannah and Her Sisters or Crimes and Misdemeanors as "garbage".

Hannah and Her Sisters is crap. It's the type film making that I can't stand and don't see why anyone would care to waste time watching it when there's thousands of better movies to watch.
What "type" of film making is it?

Boring, unremarkable drama with lame characters.
But I maintain that it's insightful, warm, well observed drama with humour, interesting characters and pathos. So which one of us is right?

Does it really bother you that I don't like a movie that you do? We are both right. The movie did nothing for me, but you love it. It sucks to me, but you want to marry it.
What bothers me is your insistent tone. You seem to be suggesting that people should dislike the movie (and this one). I'm just responding to what you have written. If you didn't want a reply, why write the same thing across three threads here and start one of your own?

Woody Allen hit his peak at Annie Hall for me, after that it's all downhill. Sorry if that bothers your nerd sensibilities.
You see, your last two posts, you say "for me" rather than just "garbage". Makes so much difference. Isn't it better when we all play nice?

And you like mine, my friend. Difference is I don't feel the need to be a dick about it.

One relatively recent--and also relatively hard to find--movie of is that is one of my favourites is "Everyone Says I Love You". If you can locate it, I suggest you give it a go. It has many parallels to "Manhattan" both in character and setting and has an amazing ensemble cast.
shareAnd it's also a musical.
The room's a wreck, but her napkin is folded.
So you didn't see Midnight In Paris and Blue Jasmine?
