his best shot film?


the cinematography in this one really makes the picture. it's like moving ansel adams photos (except the city). he manages to make the rats nest that is new york look stunning and very well captured the city through his eyes. not the best of his movies but maybe the most visually successful i think. do you think this was his most ambitious visually, if not what film was?

Yes, I think this is his most visually ambitious and striking film to date.

Next to WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? and one or two others, I think this has some of the most elegant and wonderfully framed b&w cinematography ever put to film.

It is also my favourite Allen film.





And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all.
