Scene in the Garage.

Thing is I wondered if anyone ever thought about this, I mean it seems like a dumb thing to wonder about and it’s such a trivial scene. Well “Not trivial” as it introduces the legendary V8 Interceptor into Mad Max canon. But in the scene in the garage, what was the significance when you see the chief and his superior (not sure who he was exactly) listening in on Max, Goose & the mechanic? Did it mean to imply that they were in some kind of trouble because they had the V8?

Was Max maybe in trouble for the Nightrider’s death? Why was the guy even there and what did he want? The man seems unamused at what he’s hearing which is a mystery since they’re not saying anything wrong by any stretch of the imagination but I’ve always wondered what was up even so. Anybody else?

Max is the MFP's top cop. It's one of the reasons Nightrider starts to cry (possibly also because of erratic mood swings from drugs). He recognises Max and knows he's going to die because of his reputation.

He often wants to quit the force because he has a family and because in his own words later "Any longer out on that road and I'm one of them. A terminal crazy".

So Fifi keeps having to try and talk him out of it somehow and persuade him to stay. In short, the interceptor is a bribe and the top man isn't happy with Fifi about keep having to do it.

Hey, thanks a bunch HellFire! Sure makes sense, even though we are not privy to all of that…..yet when that scene was shown. But it makes perfect sense.
