This is a great film
It's one of the best romance films I ever saw.
shareTotally agree!!!
I just saw it. I rented it because I was waiting for "Little Manhattan" to become available in my Blockbuster Queue and it recommended this film. I thought it was absolutely fabulous and I couldn't wait to come on IMDB to find out what others thought about the film.
It was hard to believe that these two kids were "actors" as I followed them through this romantic adventure. Diane Lane and Thelonious Bernard were so captivating, I believed that they were real and became so attached to them as people that I REALLY want to see a sequel.
I want to know what happens to them in the future! It's driving me insane! Just like the ending to "My Fair Lady". Grrrrr.....why do they always have to end films like this? It's to drive people with good imaginations (like me) to insanity, to want MORE!
Anyways, YES, great film and I hope more people see it.
I agree.
It's one of my favorite films of romance, forever:)
It is my favorite film of all time. A lot of that has to do with the fact that I had a wonderful and very innocent relationship with a very sweet and fun girl when I was that age.
The movie is based on a book... "E=mc2 Mon Amour" and I've often wondered if it takes them beyond where the film ends.
I've often thought how wonderful it would've been if they had made a "sequel" with Lane and Bernard when they were in their 20's or 30's... or beyond... but there's another thread here in which someone said Bernard wants nothing to do with the film industry. I wonder if he believes he wasn't paid well enough (or shorted on royalties if that was part of his contract).
I think that wanting to know if they reconnected is just part of my being a romantic, however. As we all know, all too many sweet and wonderful relationships end because one of the parties moves some distance away... and time and distance and "fate" conspire to the point that a good thing ends...
...forever. :^(
Sad, to be sure... but not continuing their story is perhaps the best way to underscore that this *does* happen... it is part of life for the romantic.
