Collectors Edition ?
Any chance of a "collectors edition" coming out ?
shareI doubt it. They had a chance to do it when Narnia came out in theaters; if they didn't do it then, I highly doubt they'll do it in the near future.

In the USA, a Special Edition DVD was produced and was intended to be released this year for Region 1. Unfortunately, the studio releasing it (Sterling, a division of UAV Corp.) closed it's manufacturing and distribution center due to outstanding debts/a pending lawsuit. Luckily enough, their library of titles (including The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe) was acquired earlier this month by Allumination FilmWorks. Hopefully, this means that the Special Edition will get to see the light of day in the near future.
Since copies of the Special Edition were duplicated and packaged before the distribution came to a halt, you may be lucky enough to find a copy of it. A good place to look would be your local Rite Aid drugstore. Rite Aid was one of Sterling/UAV's bigger clients, thus Sterling titles account for the majority of DVD product stocked in Rite Aid stores.
I was lucky enough to receive a copy of the DVD from an employee of Sterling immediately following its closure. So, for those of you wondering what makes this Special Edition so "special", here you go!
On the Special Edition, you will find the following features:
- Digitally Remastered Version
- Interactive Menus
- Scene Access
- C.S. Lewis Biography
- Did You Know?
- The Works of C.S. Lewis
- Commentary from Director Bill Melendez, Producer Steve Melendez and Sequence Director Bob Balser
- Original Drawings
- Interview with Producer Steve Melendez
- Widescreen Format
- Deleted Sequence
Damn, I don't know of a Rite Aid near my house. I'll just have to wait until I go back to college to check out the one there.

didn't ever know that their were 2 different 2005 versions.....all I saw on amazon was that the 2005 version had a little bit more than the 2003 version
so now I have to go hunting up a STERLING Copy SIGH
I had enought touble trying to get the one I've got~ had one amazon dealer just cancell and refund my money and the other just Never sent it!!!!! so I was fighting with amazon about it
Just so everyone knows, the Region 1 release of the Special Edition DVD that I mentioned in a previous post will finally be released on November 14, 2006. You can pre-order the DVD at Amazon and other retailers. Here's the address to pre-order at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Lion-Witch-Wardbrobe-Wardrobe/dp/B000FZETXE/sr=1-4/qid=1161081774/ref=sr_1_4/102-3734142-3745708?ie=UTF8&s=dvd
The collectors edition is well woth buying. Loaded with extras, plus the movie looks great.
shareYes, they did a Special Collector's Edition, BUT they cropped off the top and bottom of the movie to make it widescreen. Maybe some of you don't care, but I prefer to have my movies they way there were supposed to be. So I own both this one and the original Alpha/Omega release.
What someone SHOULD do is completely restore this one (fix up aging bits, make the colors look less aged, and remaster the sound), make sure it's in it's original format, and put it on DVD with all the features. I'd trade in my two DVDs for that.
