Don't know if too British or too 70's, this movie was dumb to me, no hilarious at all.

Perhaps it's you who is is dumb and 'no hilarious' , not the film's age or ethnic genesis. Just a thought.

So I finally ended watching this movie after 2 unsuccessful tries, both times fell asleep.

Definitely the beginning is very slow, but it gets better after the scenes as the coliseum. There are some unforgettable scenes, but the final scene totally stands up.

It just there is something mystic about that last scene. The only another movie that produced that effect on me was Lost in Translation.

Recommended, yes, but you might need to survive the first minutes.
