MAD Magazine satire - or a mystery

This is going to sound a little weird, I am sure. But I am going to share my confusion anyway.

The reason why I became aware of "The Jerk", was a MAD Magazine satire that I read - I didn't read it very well, because I wanted to 'save' it for after I have seen the movie, when I could appreciate it better.

So I watched the movie, and recognized the parts I did read from the satire, thinking how much fun it'll be to read the satire after it, to get the complete satisfaction of the whole experience.

When I returned to the MAD Magazine collection, to my surprise, I couldn't find the satire anywhere. I went through every MAD Magazine from 1970 to 1990, without finding it. What the heck? As we all know, MAD Magazines are conveniently numbered, and I went by the numbering as well, making sure there are no missing numbers.

It was nowhere to be found.

I tried various methods of trying to find that satire - and it's impossible for it NOT to be anywhere, because that satire is the very REASON I even know about this movie! That's the only reason why I know this movie exists!

So finally I found out a couple of lists that should tell me what magazine actually has the satire.

I checked this list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_film_spoofs_in_Mad

and I checked this list:

http://www.madcoversite.com/subjects.html

(You can get to the letters "J" and "K" by using this URL: http://www.madcoversite.com/subjects.html#JK)

But it's nowhere to be found.

I don't know what to make of it. How can I find out about a movie from MAD Magazine, that seemingly never printed a spoof or satire of such movie? It's like a time travel paradox; if MAD never printed the spoof, I couldn't have found out about the movie, and couldn't have wanted to find the spoof afterwards.

It could be just me going crazy, or it could be a real mystery, I have no way of knowing. But as far as I know, there's nowhere else that I could have found out about that movie, so I can't really explain it.

Would anyone here happen to have a clue as to how this could have happened, other than "you must have read about it from somewhere else" (I didn't) or such?

I know you don't want to hear this, but did you perhaps read it in "Cracked"?
