The scene where Navin is working in Hartounians garage with the sniper on the hill trying to shoot him. So many classic lines there,

"He hates these cans"! "Stay away from the cans"!
"Hey, You're not carnival personnel"!

Navin R. Johnson: [singing] I'm picking out a Thermos for you. Not an ordinary Thermos for you. But the extra best Thermos that you can buy, with vinyl and stripes and a cup built right in.

I love how he adores his thermos! This song made me laugh so hard!!

I watched the movie again last night and found myself laughing out loud at the cat juggling scene. The set-up and the choice to use Martin as the cat juggler character was hilarious.

there are so many great scenes in that movie. i loved the part where he goes to leave for the city, and is still standing outside the house hitchhiking that night while the family is eating dinner. then the truck picks him up and drives him 10 feet to the end of the fence. that was the first part in the movie that made me laugh out loud.

The scene where he is working at the fair as a "Guessing Game" person and he tells the people what prize they will win.

It's only a state of mind.

and I love when Navin loses his fortune and Marie says "It's not the money ... it's all the sssstuuufff."

I think that this movie, along with any other movie of steve martin's is absolutely terrible....I watched this one hoping that it would be better than any of his others (novicaine, bowfinger, etc), and it wasn't...I, along with my wife, could not wait for this movie to end...

I'm curious ... what movies do you find funny?

I'm not trying to be a smartalec or anything, it's just that, well, I laugh almost all through this movies, and I've seen it I-don't-know-how-many times. So I'm just curious ... well ... what makes you laugh?

I can't imagine anyone not finding this film funny. It was hilarious all the way through. This was the perfect breakout vehicle for Martin, and it's even better that he was one of the co-writers. One of the funniest scenes was when his father was teaching him the difference between s**t and Shinola and he steps in the big pile of manure. This is a comedy masterpiece. One of my ten favorite comedies.

By far the greatest comedy movie ever made!! Everything is funny...but...

Best Scene -- His first date with Marie...

Navin: "The next time you make love to your boyfriend, do you think you could think about me?"

Marie: "I haven't made love to him yet."

Navin: "Oh, that's too bad. Do you think someday maybe you and I could make love and you could think of him?"

Marie: "Who knows, maybe you and he could make love and think of me."

Navin: "I'd just be happy to be in there somewhere."

That gets me everytime!!!!
