broke ground on a style of comedy that's just recently become popular
->Stella (michael ian black, mike show, david wain) were doing some stuff years ago where they'd make a joke that wasn't really a joke.
->Family guy has a recurring style of making a joke way longer than necessary (Peter hits his shin and says "Ahhhhh, ssssss" over and over and over"
->will farrel has consistently been in movies where the joke is drawn out and over explained (as to why the joke is funny) such as in ricky bobby with the knives in his leg
i was watching the jerk last night and realized the excessively long joke has been around for a long time, and i'm not even talking about "...and i need this" which actually is kind of jokey, but the "the first day seemed like a week..." in bed scene. it's incredibly dry and drawn out and makes me wonder if it was inspired by anything...
