Whatever happend to Ilah Davis?

Did she give up Hollywood?

It looks that way, according to her profile.

She did get a pictorial in Cheri Magazine, on the strength of being in HARDCORE. I can't imagine a serious actress doing such a pictorial (in the late 1970's, anyway), so I will speculate that she may have been in the sex trade, rather than seeking mainstream films. Her utter lack of other credits may support that. Then again, maybe producers found her creepy, or something. She is pretty effective in HARDCORE, both while appearing innocent in the film's early scenes and "more experienced" in the concluding scenes. However, she doesn't really seem (to me) to have big screen charisma, which is why I speculate about her being in the sex trade. I suppose we'll never know, but I'd be interested in hearing what became of her.

As I responded in another of your posts on the subject, it appears the Cheri pictorial was from August 1978, before this film, so I'm not sure she got the pictorial on the strength of being in "Hardcore." Rather, I wonder if she got the "Hardcore" role based on her possible work on the sex trade.

Other than the Cheri pictorial and "Hardcore," an Internet search of her name doesn't turn up much, so she apparently didn't make a big name for herself in either industry.

Perhaps she's still around and might visit this board someday. Ilah, are you there?

Thanks for your response. I have now found out more stuff about Ilah, and am going to post it in a separate thread, here.

My other posts about Ilah Davis are here on the HARDCORE message board (over on page 2, now), under the category "The Death of Ilah Davis." In fact, I just updated my first message under that category, so it may or may not take 24 hours for my corrected post to be visible. Anyway, I'll briefly summmarize the update here:

There was speculation about whether or not Ilah had worked in the sex trade before appearing in the film HARDCORE. In fact, Ilah was a New York stripper who posed for nudie pictures for the magazine Cheri. The magazine shelved her pictorial. However, when they found out that Ilah had been cast in HARDCORE, they ran the photos and called the article "The Girl From HARDCORE." The magazine owned the pictures and were free to use them as they saw fit. In those photos, Ilah "shows it all," and appears much happier than she ever did in the movie HARDCORE.

Actress who portrays innocent girl who gets caught up
in the sex trade is in real life innocent girl who gets caught up
the sex trade. I like this story. I think I might call it "Double HardCore."
