This movie is so wonderful. Such pure joy in the scene chasing the truck. :)

And the Dad is great, too.

The Dad kinda stole the show, didn't he? And just as soon as you think the guy is an unloving curmudgeon, he snaps out of it when his son needs his help the most.

These are for you McNulty!

reply

Yeah, Paul Dooley does a great "curmudgeonly, yet loving" dad! I also liked him a lot as Samantha's dad in Sixteen Candles.

I've heard people say that the parents were the worst part of this movie, but for me they were the heart and soul of it. Both Dooley and Barbara Barrie were brilliant!

reply

I agree - brilliant! And Paul even gets one of the incredible monologues in the movie.
Barbara does so much, without words.

That one line, and Dooley's delivery of it, has been stuck in my brain since 1979. This movie and the performances in it are brilliant.

reply

I just saw the film and YES!!!!! Best line ever and Dooley totally steals the show! Everything he says is a laugh riot! Love him.

Wait! Wait! Where are you going? I was gonna make Espresso!

@prklinect Speaking of great lines, your signature is one of the greatest from one of the most quotable movies ever!

reply

LOL! Thanks! I actually use that line all the time, just to make people laugh. And Young Frankenstein is one of my all time faves! :)
