Stallion VS. Citizen Kane?

With it's wonderfully visual story telling and strong performances I am begining to get this strange and rather eerie feeling that this may be one of the greatest of all American films. (Maybe even THE greatest). But I dare not say that out loud. Who talks about the black stallion? How many people watch this movie anymore? It's alot like another great movie called E.T. which was written by the same person. Am I insane? Am I losing my mind? Is this horse movie really the greatest of all movies? It certainly feels that way. Are there any others who are also expiriancing this strange sensation?

I don't know about it being the best American film ever (that's a difficult label to put on any film), but you're not crazy, it's fantastic.

Hey now, no need to bash ET. I love both the Black Stallion and ET equally. They're two entirely different stories and really can't even be compared to each other. Both blew me away for different reasons.

Not sure about the "Best" but definately one of my top 5. I have the DVD and watch it often and am always glad to share it with my children and older grandkids (even the younger one are mezmorized by the fantastic photography). It is truely amazing how much story can be told with so little dialogue in the hand of a great director and cinematographer. This is a Classic in all classes of movie making.

I certainly can't deny the quality of that film but calling it the "the greatest of all movies" is far fetch but forgivable since taste is a personal thing.

Citizen Kane is generally considered greater for a very simple reason: it is a much more important movie in the history of cinema. It has defined the way movies were going to be made for decades. The fact that ones did not like it that much or find it boring is irrelevant.

I loved Citizen Kane but I'm begining to love Stallion more. We must spread the word!
