Hi, Curiously, I was searching information about the horses used for The Black Stallion films, finding pedigrees and pictures of all of "The Black" horses. I can't find any images of Fae-jur. His pedigree is available - easy to find, but I'd love to get an image. Or perhaps anyone knows this horse's exact spots on film?
I'll never forget seeing Fae-jur. He was at the Marin County Fair in the early 80s billed as the black stallion. Surpise, he was a grey. From what the announcer said, he was in the ship scene (the horse that almost drowned). He was also trained to rear when a longe whip was "slithered" on the ground, so maybe he was used for the snake scene. He was a nice stallion, but I thought I heard he was eventually taken away from the owner because of neglect (starvation). I know he was stabled in Novato, California for sometime, maybe his lifetime.
WOW! 1. I'm jealous you got to see him in real life. 2. I had no clue that they used a grey horse. That's quite a history on Fae-jur! Owner neglect?!? Good grief! Unfortunately, nothing shocks me much, because I've heard of plenty of nice Thoroughbreds that come off the track that end up in similar situations. I'd still like to find a picture of Fae-jur.
