shareI agree with you-this is one of the best horse movies-the best IMO.
Kelly Reno started to ride horses at the age of 4. That may explain why there's great horemanship between Alex and the Black. Most actors go to a horse riding school before filming a movie of them riding horses. It sometimes takes years to learn horemanship. It came naturally with Reno since he already knew how to ride horses when they filmed this movie.

This is indeed an excellent movie.
shareYeah, this really is. And the sequel is also wonderful.
GO VEGAN.
This and black beauty are both my favorites.
I'm kind of a stickler for films about what I know-because alot of times they're inaccurate, and I realize-yeah-yeah-yeah it's just a movie, but it's so annoying at the same time!
Me and my other friend who rides rented a horse movie and watched it with her little sister(who rides as well) - Lightning the Silver Stallion. OMG. As a showjumper, I don't think I've ever been so annoyed in my life to see such sloppy filming(they used multiple horses in shots-and you could SO tell, one had socks, one was braided, one was not braided). Watching a girl who just SUCKED at riding(the actress I believe rode in the beginning and god, it's awful) go from 2' fences, to the big eq.(using a stand-in horse, hahaha)to grand prix showjumping in a YEAR.
OMG.
okay. I'm rambling. but seriously. I don't think it's POSSIBLE to go from knowing next to nothing to Grand Prix in a year-you can have the best horse in the world, but it's just unrealistic to think that core strength, and muscle memory and the coordination just comes in a year.

I would have to agree. I absolutely love this movie I'll even watch the credits. It just shows the beauty between a human and a horse.
shareI'm also going to agree with you. As much as I loved Black Beauty(1994), The Black Stallion was just amazing, so touching and one of the most visually beautiful films I've seen.
