Black Stallion or Beauty?
There are two big black horse movies, Black Stallion and B;ack Beauty. It's easy to get the names mixed up. I was wondering which one you would say is better? I'd probably say Stallion.

shareoooh.. depends on which Black Beauty version..
I'd go with the Black stallion movie tho.
The 1994 version of Black Beauty is charming and quite a good movie, but The Black Stallion owns it hands down. The Black Stallion is riveting, adventurous, captivating and packed with magic. Black Beauty is some what sad and depressing.
shareI own both on DVD and simply don't compare them. The Black Stallion was a wild soul who would not be conquered. Beauty was a documentary of the often tragic lives of animals in those times before animal sentience was recognized.
Just a bit of trivia: Docs Keepin' Time, the horse who played Black Beauty played the roll of the Black Stallion in the Black Stallion TV series.

Also for trivia, Ginger in the 1994 Black Beauty was played by High Tower, who would later play Pilgrim in The Horse Whisperer, and Doc's Keeping Time would play the ill fated Guliver in the same movie. High Tower was also in Runaway Bride.
shareBlack Beauty 1994 is by far a closer adaptation to the book than The Black Stallion. I vastly prefer it.
IDK this type of film isn't usually my cup of tea, but I watched Black Satllion yesterday and not only was it a good film (especially the first half) but black horses, at least that one, are badass! Horses are beautiful animals anyway (I'm not a horse person, not like some are really into it) but I do appreciate them. But add the black coat....bad MF'er!
....and Whitey's on the moon
Of the two books I definitely prefer Black Beauty. There have been at least four movies based on Anna Sewell's book, and I've enjoyed them all, (1946 version being my favorite) but all those films were just telling a good story. The Black Stallion film is a work of art.
shareAre we reviewing the horses or the movies? Different horses...different movies.
Isn't it possible to like them both equally...for example, I have owned 3 really unique and great cars in my lifetime...all different, but all hold a special place in my memory. Movies can be the same as cars or girlfriends/boyfriends.
Black Beauty...Black Stallion...both great movies for different reasons.
