Hmmm, I thought the film was about people coming to try and salvage the wreck, what were all those (I remember there being a few) people doing back on the ship?
Or did I get the plot of the film wrong?

There were other people still trapped in the ship. which I guess makes sense.Like the blind writer and his wife who were waiting for someone to try and help them.

Course, I totally remembered a different plot to this movie. For the longest time, up until now, I remembered it being that the Poseidon sank to the bottom of the ocean and years later a salvaging crew went down to her to discover that there were survivors and that they have created an underwater society within the ship......
Think my version sounds better...perhaps that was the sequel to Titantic?
