I'm a little confused... can someone help?

Well, I am a little confused with a couple of things about BTPA. Here goes, I hope someone can help.

I last saw this film 6/7 years ago, when I was like 14 and I recently bought a VHS copy from a car boot sale and watched it. One of my "questions" was about the nurse, but it seems that there was already a topic and I know now that it is the same character from TPA.

But when Captain Mike, Celeste, Wilbur, Dr Svevo and his team are in the Gym, they have just come from the engine room where the survivors were taken out via an escape hatch. Then due to an explosion they find the nurse, and two other survivors. My confusion comes from the following:

1) The salvages and "paramedics" are still in the stern area of the Posedion, but the Doctor and Nurse (from TPA when Dr Scott persuades them to go aft) are leading a group of passengers towards the bow - how did the nurse end up at the stern? The corridor that the doctor lead them down was flooded when Dr Scott went to look for Robin. Plus the Nurse couldnt have passed as the group (less Dr Scott and Susan) remained in the area for the 15 minutes promised by Dr Scott to find the engine room.

2) The group of passengers being lead to the bow by the Doctor are all wearing night clothes/dressing gowns etc, so how come Mazetti and Susan are in the evening dress as if they had been to the New Years Eve party. But again, no one apart from the original 10 never left the ballroom.

I may have gone a bit too far while watching, but if it was a different producer and director making a sequel I could understand, but Irwin Allen produced TPA and I would have thought that other characters, say Engineers or more people from their cabins would have been found enroute to the Pursers Office.

Sorry for going on, just that I am confused by it! If someone would like to offer some comments on the matter I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Liam

Hey...I got your answer lol, well acording to the novel when the group led by the doctor left Gene Hackman, they carried on toward the bow. The story goes that an explosion happened and water rushed through a door and only the nurse and a couple of others managed to escape. I guess after that they decided Gene Hackman was right and went to follow him but got lost...hope this helped,

and you saying that the corridor was flooded wen Rev. Scott rescued Robin, The steam room is on the other side of the engine room. Rev. Scott and co, came into the engine room via the pool at the bottom left of the screen engine room. Captaqin turner and co, didnt go through the pool, they exited to the right so on the other side of the engine room, away from the flooded corridor

Well, there could have been more than one nurse on the ship, the movies never specify on how many medical staff the Poseidon had.
and as for the two passengers "dressed up" for the ball, they could have been anywhere on the ship when it turned over-its New Year's Eve on a big ship, im sure people had other plans besides the ball room party.

just another way of looking at it, i guess in the long run, the movies leave it up to the viewer to decide how the characters got in their situations.
hope iv been some help.

Except that "The Nurse" in Beyond says her name is Gina-That is the name of the nurse from the first one. Now there is a chance that Poseidon had 2 nurses named Gina-but not likely.
Larry and Teresa were on their way to the ballroom and got stuck in the elevator. Her Dad was probably roaming the passageways looking for her on his way to the ballroom. This is more thoughts than I ever thought I would give to this flickl!

Where is it stated that the nurse's name from the original Poseidon was "Gina"? It has always been my belief that Shirley Jones played a wholly different nurse from the character that had been portrayed by Sheila Matthews Allen in the original.

It was stated in the script-and no not in the actual film, that her name was Gina.

IMDB now lists Sheila Matthews Allen in TPA as Nurse Gina. I think there are extensive liberties taken to assume that she was the same nurse Shirley Jones portrayed in BTPA.

Who in '72 knew one day there would be internet cast listings as well as a sequel to the first movie?

No, Matthews Allen is not credited, nor is she ever referred to, as Gina in the first movie.

You could also try asking why Carol Lynley and Pamela Sue Martin are wearing hot pants in the first one and Sally Field is wearing hip-hugggers in the second one.

Was the ship underwater for seven years? Well, Field wasn't a passenger on the ship, so her attire could change with the styles.
