The Poseidon Adventure 3

Does any on think that a new sequel to The Poseidon Adventure should be made. Because i thought that even tho its been 27 years, i personally think there is still potential in the franchise. What do you think?

reply

I think this would be ridiculous

reply

why?

reply

I would like to see the franchise continue. they had a chance with the new remake but it didn't end the same way the original movie ended.....don't know if they could do another.

Good idea, then when they raise it (spend a whole movie on that). They could make a Poseidon 4 called "Revenge of the Poseidon" or "Attack of the Poseidon Zombies". Where the whole ship is full of Zombie, the one who died in the first on ;) :lol

SNAKES ON AN UPSIDE-DOWN SHIP!!

reply

I wrote one years ago after watching Beyond... found it recently - it's set during the same time as Beyond...Rev Scott survives his fall and is sucked into another part of the ship and comes across another band of survivors including Jenny Lewsham the onboard aerobics instructor. lol

The story I always wanted to see, or read about -forgive me since I never read the original novel - was the survival story of the 'other' group of survivors. The ones who followed the Doctor and Nurse to the bow of the ship.

I remember hearing from a friend (unlike in the movie and it's sequel), that this other group supposedly get rescued first (before Rev. Scott's group).

Can't remember how they got out .... but that would make a great story.

That group never got rescued, its not metioned in the novel or the film, what happened to them. but in the novel of beyond the poseidon adventure, they meet with the nurse and she explains the others died and she managed to survive.

reply

I disagree with the last post. In the Novel there are other survivors. And it efects the Survivors as it not being fair that after the Hell they went through the Other Survivors are Not as in bad shape as they are and had an easier road to the bottom of the ship then they did. The part where the Nurse and Dr. are leading another Group the Wrong way isn't in the book though. So that Part is Right.

RichN36 is right. those who followed Scott were not happy. esp. when they saw the Beamer and his girl, those lushes they left behind on Broadway.

"Rev Scott survives his fall"

Yeah, just like Dylan in the new version...and he goes back with the crew to save more people.

You only saw the back (engine room) explode. so most of it could by lying on the ocean floor.

reply

The ship blew up, that pretty much halts any further adventures of the Poseidon.

reply

Then again since in real life there is a Queen Mary II and a QE II, why not, in imaginary life, a Poseidon II?

I actually started this novel 15 years ago and it was a sequel to the novel BTPA--like BTPA novel was a sequel to the movie TPA--where Rogo, Martin, Nonnie, et al. all embark on the maiden voyage of the Poseidon II.

I hadn't quite thought out the details but I remember Rogo was the NYC police commissioner and i think Nonnie was a theatre actress. Yeah, that would've been a big hit.

I always wondered what happened with the wave...

Welcome onto the S.S. Poseidon

reply

That wave would have totaled Ibiza - now there's a disaster movie idea with potential . . .

As for the survivors heading for the bow with the Ship's Nurse in the first POSEIDON ADVENTURE, must have been a long walk as the Nurse has lost weight for the sequel . . . Sheila Mathews part then played by Shirley Jones!! :-D Or a big crash diet . . .

Well, now it's been 32 years. LOL

reply

Considering the ship blew up/sank at the end of the movie...couldn't happen.

Say you're happy now, once more with feeling.
