I just got the DVD today: Fresh on it's first day on the Home Video Market, and LOVE what I have watched! I have watched about 3/4 of the film...but I noticed that the only features included are the featurette and the trailers...WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE DELETED SCENES THAT WERE PROMISED? Are they an easter egg or something?
Does anyone have an answer?
~In my ear it blew it's name, it sounded strange, but I heard it plain, Mistral, Mistral Wind. ~
Yeah, Im watching it at work, and even though it looks great, I sped up to where the first additional scene would be..nothing...looks like someone at WB was a bit presumptious. Oh, well. The DVD is better than nothing-Its cool seeing it widescreen.
Yeah. I'm happy about it being on DVD. It looks GREAT in widescreen. And Irwin Allen KNEW how to craft widescreen..or rather his cinematographers sure did.
I have never seen the deleted footage...could you tell me what all was included. I am SO upset because in the trailer (and on the featurette for that matter) you see a scene between Knight and her husband, that was not in the film. This is the only scene I know of that was not included.
You'd think, because it was posted on EVERY DVD site that the scenes would be on there, that they would. Oh well...screw WB.

The extra scenes appeared in the "expanded for TV" version, and added nice character development and a little bit of action (repetitive though).
I have not seen the TV version in MANY years, but I do rememeber at least 3 things not in the theatrical cut:
When Caine and Field go exploring in the air ducts while the others wait in the galley and have something to eat: There is extra dialogue between authors Knight & Warden and nurse Jones.
I also remember more footage of the frantic dash down the upside-down staircase when the beam crashed down many floors. It was easy to tell because the colours were slightly off, and Angela Cartwright's dress seemed to be off-white rather than yellow.
SPOILER: Near the end after the Poseidon blows up and sinks, there is dialogue between Harmon and Cartwright on Michael Caine's boat. She explains that the reason her father took her on a cruise during the hollidays is that she is pregnant (and single), and he didn't want to face his family. (Actually this revelation might have been inside the Poseidon when the two were alone. I can't quite remember...) Also at the end, Jones tells Warden she is sorry the manuscript for his next book was lost (Knight had it on her when she drowned). Then we see the final scene where Field shows Caine the diamond she was able to salvage, and they kiss, End Credits.
I am VERY disapointed the scenes are not on the DVD, but I will buy it for sure! I don't care what all the critics said about BTPA, it's always been a guilty pleasure...
i still have the a version i recorded off the TV, theres a scene in it where we see what happens to Wilbur, but in the other version you see him swim off and thats it.
Oh My God Could you make me a copy of it? Oh I adore this movie, albeit as a guilty pleasure but I would LOVE to see the longer version with all the scenes. Please please PLEASE could you or SOMEONE make me a copy?!?

I have 2 copies of the longer version recorded from commercial free TV-from different channels, and neither show anything of Wilbur other than him swimming away and looking back. Question: What does your version show happening to him?
i think what happened is either he got shot in the water like tex or his appendix finally burst while he was swimming and didn't make it. I can't remember which it was.
