Stream of conscious just brought me to a youtube clip of when the Poseidon blows up at the end (which in itself was ludicrous) but I just noticed something hysterical.
In one of the shots of the interior of the ship exploding/flooding they show a stateroom/bedroom that not only is right side up, but is still all made up with the beds perfectly made, clothes or towels neatly stored on shelves and lotions on a dresser!
Hi Fleischmandoes, I think I can shed some light on your question. In the longer, broadcast TV version the Merediths (Jack Warden and Shirley Knight) had basically reassembled their overturned stateroom to make it as comfortable as possible. This version also revealed that Harold Meredith was a writer of some renown and his wife Hannah helped with his manuscripts. Nurse Gina (Shirley Jones) was a fan of Meredith's books and they all bonded quite a bit as they struggled to escape. There was almost an hour added to the TV broadcast version because it aired over two nights as a "special event" but it was still pretty lame. We also find out in this longer version that Angela Cartwright's character is pregnant.
If only the movie had been more like the book. I couldn't put the book down as a kid!
Hope this helps.
