Scenes missisng you would like to have seen
Granted, you cannot include everything in a film, but one poignant part of the book that both films missed was when Paul was guarding the Russian prisoners. Here Baumer makes the case that "A word of command has made these silent figures our enemies, a word of command might transform them into our friends." "Any non-commissioned officer is more of an enemy to a recruit, or schoolmaster to a pupil than they are to us. And yet we would shoot at them again and they at us if they were free."
Baumer also notes that he has more in common with them than he does with his own people.
Are there any other scenes that you remember from the book that you would have like to have seen included in the movie(s)?
I may not have a big tricked out name tag, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
