Both the women on the ship did what they could to prevent the disaster from happening; The woman from The Birds said, twice, "Let's get out of here," long before the face hugger attacked John what's-his-face. And then, of course, Ripley tries to stop them from bringing him on board the ship. The moral of the story? If women tell you a situation is iffy, maybe us men folk should pay attention!
If you recall, Parker sided with Ripley and kept questioning why they didn't freeze Kane when brought onboard. But the 1 chick who said to "lets get out of here" insisted on bringing him onboard.
I don't recall. It's been about 20 years since I last watched the film. It sucks that the writer made things wishy-washy like that. I always liked the idea that all those guys didn't listen to the women and ended up dead as a result.

To be fair thats only in the directors cut so in every other cut parker always seemed more interested in the bonus situation.

What exactly are you suggesting? Yes, up until they landed he mentioned their bonus. However, the bonus is never mentioned again. It had nothing to do with his common sense in regard to Kane.
You mentioned "if you recall" where I'm pointing out a lot of people woulden't recall that cause it was only in the directors cut. I actually liked yaphet kotto character as he seemed to be the most relatable character in the show. He was the character I hated to see get killed off. I read rumours that he kept pleading with ridly scott not to kill of his character so he's funny in real life too.
On a similar thought: Ash, being the synthetic did let them in after all, much to Ripley's dismay, but I almost feel that even if it hadn't, Ripley may have let them in eventually, with strict quarantine procedures to the medbay. It's very doubtful she would have left the crew on LV-426 while she takes off and heads home.

Riply was coming across as a sone cold B. She would have waited 24 hours saw the alien pop out then let the other 2 in the ship as the alien would have just scurried away.

Did you ever notice that the characters make mistakes and break protocol at literally every plot point in order to ensure that disaster unfolds? They literally author their own doom.
The worst is when they invite Kane to dinner instead of keeping him quarantined, because they just decided he is cured for some reason.
People love to bash on Prometheus without realizing how stupid the characters in Alien act. It's one of those annoying, brainless hipster things where everything pre-1999 is golden and everything post-1999 is trash.
In the 70s, people weren't such sticklers for logic when it came to movies. It's made good storytelling in the 21st century more difficult, but I think we've somewhat lost our ability to suspend disbelief in the process.
No thats not all Ive got. As I said, this happens on EVERY major plot point in Alien. They go against protocol to get Kane on the ship. They go against protocol failing to quarantine. They go against logic assuming Kane is "fine" after the facehugger is off.
When a facehugger or chestburster gets lost in the med bay, Ripley and Dallas walk in AND LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN. Ash has to close it in the background.
There is an argument scene later in front of security monitors where Ripleys dialogue forces her to suddenly become ignorant about her basic job and ship protocol, in order to ham-fist the plot in a certain direction.
At least three characters die because they wander slowly in the darkness WHILE suspecting the alien is there.
Ripley leaves the Narcissus escape craft to go save a cat AND LEAVES THAT DOOR OPEN, which allows the alien to hide there.
Apparently auto destruct is easy to activate, but disabling it requires some kind of manipulation of heavy cylinders that move slowly.... why?
If looked at with pure logic, instead of "horror movie logic," the characters in Alien author their own doom at every step by failing to do the smart thing... and the smart thing is usually mentioned!
Oh and auto destruct was a popular sci fi cliche, like quicksand in an adventure movie.... but auto destruct on an ore processing facility? NUCLEAR auto destruct? For whats no more than a big industrial plant? It doesnt even make sense for Nostromo to have auto destruct, as its literally a tow truck.
Well, its the engine cooling circuit or somthing isnt it, not a stand alone self destruct, and as such could easily be a lot harder to switch back on , than it was to shut it down
