Spielberg's masterpiece
It was all downhill after 1941... If only the masses had understood the genius on display in this movie!

shareAudiences and ignoramoose critics don’t understand the purpose of a chaotic, scatterbrained style of filming about 1941- the year of nationwide paranoia of a Japanese invasion.
Duh...THAT’s why.
As an Asian, I thought it was fucking hilarious seeing Toshiro Mifune yelling at Christopher Lee in Japanese while Lee responded in German.
😂
I forgot about that. Two great, classical actors playing it straight amongst all the chaos. Very funny stuff.

shareIt's become a tradition.for me to watch this every year on December 13. It has some wildly inventive sequences sustained by the early Spielberg's delight in making strong images. It's not really funny in the way many people might have hoped with its cast of talented comics. Still, there's enough visual magic and effective sight gags to keep things interesting. The Jitterbug dance sequence that climaxes in a brawl is one of my favorite scenes in any Spielberg film.
