Interesting Parallels
The General's name is Stillwell.
Same name as one of the baseball players from A League of their Own.
Could 1941 have influenced some of the characters from A League of their Own?
Granted, not the most uncommon name, but I still found it interesting.
Also, a scene in 1941 where they're in a "command center".
A whole bunch of airplanes are being placed on a table, to show their location.
Reminiscent of what the English did during the war.
During the scene, the camera pans up, so that we're now looking down on the people in the scene and a "traffic light" type fixture enters into view. It is switched to "red", by command of the....commander, in order to show the urgency of the situation.
I was immediately reminded of a few scenes from "Wargames", where we watched the "Defcon" meter slowly inch its way towards total annihilation of the Earth's inhabitants.
Of Special note is the form in which that meter took. A series of lights to show increasing/decreasing urgency of a situation.
Same as row of lights on the traffic signal in 1941.
Again, was this aspect of Wargames influenced by 1941?
Granted, I don't think anyone who had a hand in making 1941 worked on either of the other movies I mentioned, but considering that 1941 pre-dates either of the other movies I mentioned, it does bring to mind some interesting parallels.
Tell me, you love your country?
Well, I've just died for it.
