THE MOVIE

This could be a wonderful idea for a live action movie. It has the opportunity to be a big hit. Especially if the director is a visioner like Cameron or Singer.

Visions are worth fighting for. Why spend your life making someone else's dreams?

The movie is in the works. I'm not willing to pay for IMDbPRO in order to read up on it.

It would also make for a great live-action TV series.
YES! In fact, I think it would make a better series than it would a movie.

Of course, I'm looking forward to the movie anyway. Looks like the Speed Racer movie will make it to theaters first.

I agree, a series on Sci-Fi would make more sense than attempting to squeeze an entire series like Quest for Iscandar into a 2-hour movie. I'll take either if they don't change the characters like Disney was attempting to do.

Sci FI Channel does not suck anymore, Battlestar is one of the best shows on television. Star Blazers would be perfect for the Sci FI Channel.

reply

No, The Sci-Fi channel still sucks. Why? Because after comming out with the new Battlestar Galactica which in my opinion stinks and insulting the original (I'm a second generation fan of the show) they strike again and destroy FLASH GORDON even WORSE to the extent that it's almost unrecognizable. Overall, they took a perfectly good and stylized series (I'm talking about Flash Gordon now) and twisted everything that made it unique out of it to the point it had almost nothing to do with the originals. The Sci-Fi channel is nortorious for killing and blackening classic science fiction stories, tv shows and movies. If I can help it, I wouldn't let them do this to Star Blazers either. In fact, this time because it's Japanese source material, this could start an INTERNATIONAL conflict.

Darrell, that was of no offense to those that like the new BSG series; I just don't care for it and to be perfectly frank, they actually made a pretty good television show on its own (though I would have prefered a continuation of the original but that's just me). However, what was done to Flash Gordon literally sickens me and if that's what they do to Star Blazers then the version Disney had in mind would be far better than what the Sci-Fi channel would do unless they seriously rework themselves. I have nothing against a Star Blazers movie (In fact, I started a post suppourting it if you look a bit) I just hope that the movie is made by someone that will actually do a good job at making it good and true to the source material. That is all.

Sean Conerey would be perfect as Captain Avatar. In fact i couldnt imagine anyone else as him.

After seeing transformers, I think if Michael Bay might do this movie some justice. Of course speilberg had a big part in keeping the movie close to the original story line. So if speilberg was involved and held to the original stories and characters I think they would have a hit.

One thing though. The Argo should remain a world war II era battleship. And yes I think it should be called the Argo. I am American and grew up with the American version. Sorry purists.
