What was the name of the ships gun???

What was the ships main gun called... I used to love this show as a kid and only remembered the name of the series just then.

Cheers

I would be interested in the list. Granted, I would like to purchase the series. Relive my teen years I guess.

The series DVD contains an interactive chart of the ship where you can check all that stuff out and see it up close in map, drawing, and blueprint forms.

Well done, sir!! I give you much credit for compiling the arsenal for us.

Ah, yes...the Wave Motion Gun...awesome sound effects for that one! I remember watching Star Blazers as a kid...one of the best animated series EVER!

Gotta get it on DVD...

I loved it, I was so darn young I can't remember much except they had 1 year to save earth from radiation, their ship had warp (FTL) travel, lots of guns and the Wave Motion Engine/Gun.

I cant remember any of the names....I really need to find this somewhere and we need it on DVD.

I was just saying on the Transformers site that we needs a live action Starblazers series, but I'm sure it would conflict with Battlestar Galactica and get lost in the shuffle just like Firefly back in 2002.

But for the record I blame FOX for Firefly :)

If I remember correctly,
In the CE series. They remarked in one of the first episodes that the new shock cannons had a range of 100 Megameters up from 10 megameters. They also said the Wave Motion gun had unlimited range.

I assume the EDF ships at the Battle of Saturn had the same wave motion gun upgrade (especially Andromeda) yet, these ships couldn't fire at the approaching Comet Empire fleet with their wave motion guns because they were "out of range". Menawhile the lead CE ship was picking them off with the Magna Flame gun. It was a bit frustrating to watch :-)

Anyone else pick up on this?

Holy crap - I'm a geek! :-0

The gun was called the Motion Wave Gun. It used tachyons as did the main drive in order to work.

The Wave Motion Gun

Of course, calling it the Wave Motion "GUN" is a little like calling a Howitzer a gun. I always prefered, when talking about the last gripping episode with my friends (oh so many long years ago), to refer to it, in slightly awed tones, as the Wave Motion "Cannon." Because that's what it was to me. Just my two cents worth (which, come to think of it, isn't really worth the two coppers, huh?)

That would be the wave motion gun.

I love the scen were the Aro is about to fire the Wave Motion Gun.Sargent Knox has a bandana tied over his eyes.

Interestingly, the Wave Motion Gun has a different name if you watch the Japanese subtitled versions of the show. The Undulation Gun. Not as catchy in English would be the most obvious reason why they did not use the direct translation of the gun's name.

They did use the direct translation. The Japanese was "ha do ho." "Ha"=wave, "do"=motion, and "ho"=gun or cannon. "Undulation" means wave-motion. The subtitles just worded it differently, but it means the same thing, though it really doesn't sound as good.

-There is no such word as "alot."

Yes, thanks; the question has now been answered about five times already.

The only weapon i've ever scene or heard of that took freakin 20 minutes to powerup and that the enemies never seem to get out of the way. I think i will start a thread on this.

it may have taken a day and half to load and fire. but the anticipation, the crew putting on their goggles, the sound of the humming and eventual firing of the canon by derek wildstar, and the annihilation it imposed was well worth the wait...still remember how it sounds!

Does everyone remember when they fired the wave motion gun at the floating continent. Is it just me or did Star Wars ep. II steal the sound effect from the gun as it fires after the silence and use it as Jango Fetts percusion mines. It sounds like a guitar almost. I think it is the coolest sound.

reply

I just found on Star Blazers.com or other SBY websites and they're a lot of sound effects including the Wave Motion Gun effects...oh, you can recond your favorite sounds on your cellphone as a ringtone...I have the Gamilon guns sound effects and every person curious and interested my ringtone.
