shareNoboru Ishigoro, animation director on the series, said that executive producer Nishizaki decided he wanted the Gamilons to be blue-skinned at that point. It was, of course, pointed out to him that the show had already been depicting Gamilons as Caucasian for ten episodes, but he insisted on the change anyway. The animators showed Desslok gradually changing to blue as he walked up the carpet to his throne as a desperate attempt at passing off the previous white-skinned appearance as a trick of the light, since the script simply ignored the change. Nishizaki was apparently prone to such sudden flights of fancy, since he also decided at that time that Yuki (Nova) would be the only female crewman, despite the large number of women shown in episode ten.
