Sapphire & Steel: The movie

Since they seem to be making movies of all the old series, I think they should make one of Sapphire & Steel.

They can start from wherever they like. As long as Joanna Lumley plays Sapphire, I don't care. David McCallum (I) played a great Steel so it would be good if he could return also.

A watched the programme when originally transmitted. I didn't understand it.
It frightened the hell out me (still does - yet it's only PG on video). I have many cert 18 horror films which are less frightening. Sure it had its dodgy moments, but I still liked it.

Apparently the scene when Steel almost fell off that tall building was very real. Dave McCallum (I) and the camera person were brave to shoot that one.

Call me insane (which I am), but yes I'd like a movie of this series.

My humble opinion.

Yes, those assignments were my favourites also. Regarding the photographs assignment, I'm not sure if they cut a scene or two out of the video release
in the early 1990s. I remember a scene between Steel and the chap with no face. The chap with no face changed into a chap with a smiling face. When the smiling face was present, Steel smiled back. When the face went away, Steel's had a serious expression on his face. Then again I may have dreamed that scene into the program. Sounds like a silly scene now, but when I was seven (when S&S was broadcast the first time around), it would have fitted in nicely for me.

The ending of assignment 2 surprised me at the time because it didn't have the happy ending that everyone expected. That put the assignment ahead of its time.

I'm pleased there's at least one other person who thinks there should be a film (or further episodes). My mates all disagree and say it's best left in the past. They lack superior taste!

This show was ahead of it's time. The themes they explored here were intelligent and in Dr. Who many of these themes would result in the deterioration of the Colin Baker years.

This has always been among my top three choices for shows ever.

I even have written fan fiction beyond the ending... when I was in such a state myself. :) hope they do this proud.

Ticks Ticks thousands of ticks, and not one blessed TOCK among them!

Alas, both Lumley and McCallum declined to appear in the Sapphire and Steel remake being put together by Big Finish Productions. David Warner and Suzannah Harker have been cast instead.

Is this still happening? I can't see any mention of it at the time of writing this in the imdb.

I'm surprised Joanna Lumley declined (more likely she first discussed it with David McCallum and would agree to return if he did).

The series ended in a perfect way to account for any differences in age if they were to do a new film or series.

Great memories (and nightmares!) of S&S from when it was first aired here in the UK on ITV at 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Stumbled across this earlier today. You can buy CDs of the new S+S adventures from here.

Totally different characters, but somehow, I feel compelled to say it.
