Also in the late 70s in UK there was a great deal of industrial action (strikes) going on which was bad enough to affect the making/producing/filming of things going on at the time. I remember in the Tomorrow People dvd extras they said all kinds of things affect them i.e. when carpenters and scene painters, etc. "downed-tools" and filming was postponed for sometimes months. In this atmosphere, a lot of good programmes bit the dust around this time with the intention of returning at a later date, but by which time when things settled down new networks had taken over and wanted to show their own "products" instead.
