Sorry about this, I know topics like this are annoying. However, I've heard quite a lot about this, and would like to know whether it's worth getting into.
I love the classic series of Doctor Who and the original Quatermass serials, so if the production values are dodgy, I'll be okay. I basically want something well written and fun with some good chemistry between the actors.
I'm torn between this, the New Avengers or the Prisoner (they're all about the same price on amazon). I might actually end up getting a couple. Which would you most recommend?

I'd never seen Sapphire and Steel before recently buying the boxed-set, and I love it. Save yourself some money though; I got mine (new, factory-sealed, not bootleg) at ebay for a fraction of the price on Amazon.

You may be able to get all three on ebay for the price of one or two elsewhere.

Thanks, I ended up going for Sapphire and Steel and the Prisoner. Up to Assignment 5 and I'm loving it so far, my favourite has probably been Assignment 2, with 4 coming up very close behind. I've only watched episode 1 from the Prisoner so far, but it turns out that it was a show I watched years ago without remembering what it was called; I only realised when I saw the thoroughly disturbing white balls.

Coincidentally, can anyone recommend other shows like either of them? I know that they're both considered very unique, tonally perhaps? Good writing, quite scary but on a psychological level, mysterious, strange, intelligent etc? I was looking at stuff like the original Avengers, the Man from U.N.C.L.E, Colditz etc. Thanks for any suggestions.

Oy vey, rent it on Netflix and just try it. Posts like this make me think of people who have to ask permission to use the bathroom.
