Anyone watching this at the moment?

I remember it from first time round (I'm that old) and being terrified as a kid by the Shape and Johnny Jack.

I also watched it again in my late teens / early 20s as a student at Poly. Not paying too much attention, though, but great nostalgia.

I'm now starting to go through the episodes once again, one by one as they were originally shown. I am halfway though adventure one. It's incredibly slow-paced and obviously the effects are minimal to say the least, but this is great stuff!

Really good script with earnest acting that wins you over even when it gets hokey. Direction that makes a virtue of the low budget – inventive and effective, shot by shot. And what a totally believable, solid set. There are Doctor Whos from 1979 – and long after – that are put to shame on all these scores.

Them's me thoughts.

Stuart Maddison - you are the dog's thingies! You have expressed exactly what I (a woman of a certain age....) feel about my memories of S&S. If you are such a codger that you get the Radio Times you will see a brochure has fallen out (Simply Home Entertainment) offering the complete S&S for £17.49! How d'ya like THEM apples? The end (which I shan't reveal as it's a spoiler) awed me with its nihilism - v unusual for those days.

i'm too young to have seen them when they originally aired (i was born in 1988) but i'm watching the epps at the moment, just finished assignment 3, and i absolutely love it!
i'm not a big fan of sci-fi, and since this isn't typically sci-fi, i think it's great!!!
maybe i'm a bit biased because i think joanna lumley is fabulous, but who cares:D

I got out the dvd set last week and am up to assignment 3 now, I want a quiet house before i get out assignment 4! I've even re watched 1 with my 10 year old who was glued to it and wanted to see the next installment right after the previous one.

I've not shown him the 2nd one yet, i'm not sure if its too scary for him. Joanna's black eyes really freaked me out the first time I saw this one.

I think the famous ATV strike ruined this on me as i never really remember what happens in it, but its all been recollected now.

Just finished the box set. Marvellous stuff! We haven't exactly worked through it at speed - it's taken us the best part of two years - but it's been wonderful to see it all again and feel really sad now it's over.

We're big Big Finish fans, though, so I suspect the audios will start appearing soon to keep us going...
