I received an email from a friend of mine who used intern at ITV and she claimed that there will be a new Sapphire & Steel series that will crossover with an episode of Doctor Who. She acknowledges it could be simply a rumor but supposedly writers from Big Finish have been contacted.
Can someone confirm this rumor?

I think it would make a bloody good dr who episode although i'm sure the idea has been done in dr who at some point before

Russell T Davies was thinking of an episode where the Tardis landed on the USS Enterprise.

Yet.
The TARDIS materialises in a lightless motorway service station café. All cobwebs and decay. Venturing outside, his sonic screwdriver providing the only light, the Doctor realises – by looking out of the window – that the reason for the TARDIS' inexplicable readings is that there is nothing outside but space and void!
Suddenly, something stirs in the darkest corner. Two blue glowing eyes. Then, the Doctor is confronted by two beings, wizened, ragged, stiff and deathly, but with slowly returning energy… SAPPHIRE and STEEL LIVE!
And they demand the Doctor's help with some unfinished business… !
... because I reappear with tedious inevitability
Actually I was just thinking a malfunction in the TARDIS could send the Doctor to the cafe and when he leaves Sapphire and Steel go with him.
