shareI love practically every scene in episode three. I love the serial as a whole, but that is my favourite episode. I love the scenes involving Elizabeth and Mr Darcy - his short visit halfway through the episode, his proposal scene and the scene where Elizabeth reads his letter - and I also love the scenes involving Lady Catherine, Mr Collins and Charlotte.
Two other favourite scenes of mine are the sequence at Pemberly in episode four and the final scene between Elizabeth and Mr Darcy. In short, I just LOVE this production and virtually all the actors involved.
There are many great scenes, but my favourite *lines* are in the scene where Darcy & Elizabeth meet at Pemberley:
Darcy: "You are not at Longbourn?"
Elizabeth: "Nooo."
To me, hearing these two intelligent, witty, verbose people saying such stupid things illustrates their embarrassment better than any wet shirt!

I could not agree more. The embarrassment of this scene says far more than that ridiculous wet shirt scene ever could. This was the level that Jane Austen worked on; subltelty For my money, this version tops the more famous 1995 version, anyway. David Rintoul was the perfect Mr Darcy. And when I was watching Jennifer Ehle I could not get away from the fact that she had dyed her hair. It was so distracting!!!
shareAmen!!! This version does top the 1995 version any day.

Mine is from ep. 1, the party at Lucas Lodge during which Chrlotte compels Lizzy to play and sing. The song she performs is called "The Ash Grove," a traditional Welsh folk song.
I love what happens when Lizzy begins to sing and play: Darcy slowly makes his way across the room to get a better view of Lizzy at the pianoforte. There is a very nice close up on him just as Lizzy sings the lines: "Twas there while the blackbird was cheerfully singing, I first met that dear one, the joy of my heart."
Oh yeah!
I like the interaction with Darcy and Elizabeth at Rosings. He didn't expect to see her and I got the impression he was happy she was there. Embarrased too by his aunt.
shareI really loved the sequence at netherfield, where Bingley slightly insulted or hurt Darcy ("I don't know a more awful person especially when he's at home or on sunday evenings, when he has nothing to do" - or sth like that), Darcy goes away, stares at Elizabeth and she just turns away. Just great!
PS: Jennifer Ehles hair was not dyed, she wore a wig
Well I'm a huge fan of this version and the 1995 version as well. Although David Rintoul seemed stiff at times with his portrayel of Mr. Darcy, nevertheless he was good.
I loved every scene between him and Elizabeth but my most favorite is when at the next gathering, when Elizabeth and Charlotte are sitting down talking and Darcy is staring at Elizabeth and Charlotte is quick to notice.
ANIMAL LOVERS UNITE
I love Elizabeth's confrontation with Catherine De Bourgh in the horrible west-facing sitting room. "Do you deny that you are engaged to my nephew?!" You GO, Lizzy!
shareDarcy's proposal to Elizabeth of course followed by all other scenes with the two of them!
shareI loved this version. It has been, is, and always will be my favorite of all the versions.
David Rintoul was Mr. Darcy. The aristocratic face, those shoulders, that straight as a board stance. No one has been able to match his performance no matter how many times they remake this classic.
Elizabeth Garvie was so perfect as Lizzy.
My favorite part is when they meet in Pemberly. Lizzy's single word answers are so cute
"You are not at Longbourn?"
"No!"
"I thought you at Longbourn."
"Oh!"
"Your family, they are well?"
"Yes."
I also love the scene near the end when Bingley and Darcy have dinner at Longbourn. I wished Lizzy and Darcy could have sat closer together than at opposite ends of the table.
Later during coffee, when he is just about to join her and one of the other women quickly changes seats, I felt so bad for the two of them. The look of longing in his face just made me want to drag that other woman out of the chair so he could sit next to Lizzy.
"I'm not a witch, I'm not a witch!"
"But you're dressed up as one."
"They dressed me like this!"
aww, omg then i so have to see this version even more. I loved reading it in the book and was so disappointed that it was not in any of ther versions I have scene (the dinner at Longbourn and then the coffee). I had to write a fanfiction about it, except it was a celebration dinner for Jane and Bingley. Oh i want to see this version so much. and the Pemberley akward meeting sounds hilarious!
"It's not appropiate for royalty to jingle"
Oh, yes! The "You are not at Longbourn?" dialogue is one of the best moments in the whole miniseries. Lizzy's answers are cute, Fitzy's questions are hilarious. I also get a sense from the way the scene is played that the two characters were getting on with life after the disaster of Darcy's first proposal, had no expectation or desire to ever meet again, and have no idea what to expect of each other upon meeting again. I think you can see that Lizzy is a little off-balance: she already knows that she did misjudge him initially, but she's so accustomed to being hostile that she doesn't know quite how to behave. O.
